Stories like this are meant to be discussed.

If your book club is reading Reich to Israel, I would be honored to join your conversation via Zoom to explore the story, its historical background, and the moral questions it raises.

I’m the proud grandson of Jews who escaped Nazi Germany, and Jewish identity is central to who I am. I feel both an obligation and a deep joy to live that tradition every day and carry it forward. I studied the Holocaust, Jewish History, Zionism, and the Arab-Israeli conflict at the University of Massachusetts and at Ben-Gurion University in Israel, and I care deeply about thoughtful, meaningful conversation — so we will never forget.

Why This Conversation Sparks Debate

The novel is told from the perspective of a perpetrator — a choice that can feel uncomfortable. That discomfort is intentional.

It invites readers to wrestle with questions such as:

•When does obedience become moral failure?
•What happens when someone who followed orders tries to change?
• Can a person truly atone?
• Is redemption possible — and where is the line?

This story is designed to spark honest reflection long after the final page.
